YPI Group Officially Announces Sailing Arm of Brokerage Division

In Royal Huisman, Sailing Yachts, Southern Wind, Yachting Partners International on November 30, 2009 at 11:45 am

A “new sailing arm” is how YPI Group is describing the team within its Brokerage Division that is now officially handling sailing yachts.

“In truth it is a service we have been offering at YPI for years now,”  Group Managing Director Bertrand Vogèle said. “It is just now that we decided to formalize it a little and communicate on the fact that this is an expertise we have in-house within our sales division.”

Vogèle says the company is seeing “growing demand around the world” for new sailing yachts, which boast far more creature comforts and better performance than the designs of years past. Broker Will Bishop adds that because of the continuing recession, the brokerage marketplace is chock-a-block with good values for sailors in particular.

As if on cue, YPI recently signed the 52-meter Royal Huisman Meteor and the 40-meter Royal Huisman William Tai as central agencies, and announced the sale of the Southern Wind 100  N°2.

“Much of what used to be done manually before can now be operated automatically if the owner prefers,” Vogèle says. “Sailing yachts can be very environmentally friendly, and even without any wind, most offer motors that ensure the yacht can be enjoyed no matter what the weather conditions. With prices so favourable to potential buyers, I think that now really is a great time to consider purchasing a sailing yacht.”

Ocean Independence Announces 1 Sale, 6 New CAs for Sale, and 2 New Brokers

In Motoryachts, Ocean Independence on November 25, 2009 at 2:11 am

Ocean Independence broker Harry Lort-Phillips, who is based in the United Kingdom, has sold the 30-meter Swan Hoppetosse. Lort-Phillips acted on behalf of the buyer, with in-house support from what the company calls “Swan performance sailing yacht expert” Rainer Wilhelm in Vienna. Also involved was Managing Partner Nicholas Dean, who advised on contractual and legal matters.

It may sound like half the sales staff was hard at work on that single deal, but in fact the Ocean Independence team has been busy rounding up six new CAs for sale:

  • 49-meter CMN/Oceanco Mimtee, by Managing Partner Peter Hürzeler in Zurich
  • 30-meter Falcon 100 New Life, by broker Toby Maclaurin in Zurich
  • 57-meter Aegean Yachts Montigne, by broker Peter Thompson in the United Kingdom
  • 35-meter Technomar Mates, by broker Eric Trupheme in Antibes
  • 28-meter Mangusta 92 Elektra’s, by broker Jeroen Minnema in Antibes and Managing Partner Nicholas Dean
  • 26-meter Riva 85 Opera Valeria, also by Minnema in Antibes

Meanwhile, two new brokers have joined the Ocean Independence staff. Yannis Mitsopoulos, a Greek native with 20 years of yachting industry experience, will be based in Athens. Axel Douqué, for the past two years an assistant broker to Managing Partner Peter Hürzeler, will be based in Antibes and Zurich.
